Caring for Carers

"A Carer is a person, of any age, who looks after family, partners or friends in need of help because they are ill, frail or have a disability and need support to live independently. This care is unpaid. The carer may be in receipt of carers allowance but this is not considered to be payment."

Many Carer's do not recognise that they are in such an important role, and whilst we all automatically care for those we love, when relatives, spouses or children have additional care needs due illness, disability or mental health issues - the Carer may need some support for themselves. This may be from outside agencies or other relations.

Fortunately in Perth, there are several support agencies which specialise in friendly advice to those in a range of circumstances. Several of these can access a series of therapy sessions with ourselves, addressing a range of issues, or simply as a time to de stress and receive some holistic health care.
