"It isn't for the moment you are struck that you need courage, but for the long uphill climb back to sanity and faith and security." Anne Morrow Lindbergh 1906This quote will strike a chord for so many of our clients, especially alcoholics or recovering addicts - as well as those going through the emotional process of grief, divorce or any other event which can cause great stress. Although the initial period of any major change is usually the hardest and most deeply felt - the following days, months and years will cause considerable concern - the long term can look unbelievably difficult, especially when the present can be challenging enough.
Although we may have found the motivation to make positive changes to our lives, the continuity of these changes sometimes means we may require a higher level of emotional support, from our friends or family - but when this is not an option, it may be the time to consider a form of alternative therapy or treatment. This may provide the extra motivation to keep us at our missions or challenges, to help us find our own internal strength to continue on towards our goal.
